Peggy Ellwood, 83, of Austin passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007. She was born March 20, 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Herman and Abbie Glass. They later moved to Austin where she attended Austin High School and then Mary Baldwin College in Virginia. She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Philquist Tobin, son-in-law Ron Tobin, grandson Ronnie Tobin and wife Vicky, son-in-law Ronnie Bergeron, granddaughter Heather Bergeron Kendrick and husband Bruce. Daughter Patricia Ellwood Korkmas, son-in-law Gene Korkmas and grandchildren Tony Joe, Casey and Kelsey, and daughter Sally Ellwood Kuebler, grandchildren Joe, Jill, Jenny and Jeffrey and 4 great grandchildren. A couple of years after being widowed, she located her high school sweetheart, Neal Ruder, via the internet and they spent the last 8 years together. Peg worked for many years as a counselor with the Teacher Retirement System of Texas and enjoyed bi-monthly lunches with a large group of her retired co¬workers. She was also involved for many years with Al-Anon and had many close friends within that group. Bonnie took the family on a cruise in December of 2005, and Peg jumped at the chance to fulfill a lifelong dream. A few months before her 82'd birthday she swam with the dolphins in Playa del Carmen - it was one of the highlights of her life. Then, when asked what place she would most like to visit, she chose England and she and Bonnie spent a week in London last August. A memorial service will be held at the home of Ron & Bonnie Tobin, Saturday, April the 28th at 11:00 AM with Jane Louis officiating. All who loved her and friends of the family are welcome and invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 149100, Austin, Texas 78714 or the charity of your choice. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
