

Perry Rose, 74, of Austin, TX died Wednesday, November 2, 2005. Perry was born June 1, 1931 in Wilson, NC. He had a long career with Firestone Tire and Rubber Company before he and his partners became the largest independent Firestone dealer group, GCR, in the world. He was a Deacon, an Elder, and a Trustee at First Southern Presbyterian Church, on the Board of Trustees at St. Edwards University, a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce, very active in the Capital Area Chapter of the ADA who named the annual golf tournament the Perry and Connie Rose Diabetes Golf Tournament. Perry loved to play golf and was a member of the Austin Country Club for 36 years. He is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart of 56 years, Connie Rose, his children: Cathy Rose, Steve Rose, and his wife Cindy, of Austin, TX, and Jeff Rose of NYC, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amee Gillispie, and her husband Gary, of Altus, OK, Amanda Poston of Austin, Victoria Johnson, and her husband Danny, and Chad Rose of Austin; great-grandchildren Hunter Taylor and Jordan Taylor of Altus, OK, and Ethan Johnson of Austin. Also survived by sister Kay Wroten and husband Paul, niece Mary Gliarmis, great niece Peggy Sutter, and husband Mark, children John, Steve, and Alexis. Great niece Romona Herndon and husband Jerry, children Gregory, David, and Paula Bateman, and husband John, children Colin and Garett. Charlene Soper, God-Daughter Stephanie Soper and David Soper. Maggie and Ken Crocker and many friends. Visitation will be Sunday, November 6th from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 3125 N. Lamar. The funeral service will be Monday, November 7th at 10:00am at Weed-Corley-Fish Chapel. Burial will follow at Austin Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the American Diabetes Association at 2499 S. Capital of Texas Hwy 78746.
