

Dr. Queen Samantha Renee Ackers of Kyle, Texas passed away suddenly on March 11th, 2025 in Austin, Texas, Queen Samantha was born on April 9th, 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Beatrice and Alton Ackers. She was one of five siblings. She will be welcomed at the gates by her late father Alton Ackers, her late sister Cassandra Belton, and her late brother Pernell Jones. She left behind her son Jourdan Taylor and her daughter in law Maria Tisdale, her two grandchildren Imani Taylor and Naeomi Taylor, her two miniature schnauzers Bob and Ziggy, her mother Beatrice Ackers, her brother Leonard Jones, her sister Connie Ackers, her sister in law Cadette Jones, her nieces LaDiece Jones and Lindsey Jones, Her nephews Lance Jones and Lyle Jones, her sister cousin Karla Parks, and many more.
Samantha received both her Bachelors (1989) and Masters (1997) in English and Language Arts at Xavier University of Louisiana and then later received her Juris Doctorate (JD) (2008) from Southern University Law Center. Samantha was an attorney for family law for years while teaching on the side before becoming a full time professor at Austin Community College in August of 2015 where she worked until she passed away. She played many roles at ACC as an adjunct faculty member, an Academic Advisor, and the ambassador of Joy. Queen was an inspiration and touched many lives during her career. Queen was a dedicated worker, a family woman, and made every day a Happy Day.
