Rachel was born in Corpus Christi, Texas and has resided with her mother in Austin for 20 years. She was a graduate of Travis High School, Austin, Texas. She had worked at St. Ignatius Child Care Center, and at the University of Texas Child Care Center.
In 1986, she was the first “female” member of the Boy Scout of America in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Rachel was a great bowler and won several gold medals, both in bowling and track through her participating in the Special Olympics.
Rachel enjoyed traveling to Disneyland, Disney World, Grace Land and zoos. Her passion was movies, puzzles, drawing, computer games, sea animals and her beloved cats Lillie and Rambo.
She is preceded in death by her grandfathers: Leland James Arnett, Antonio C. Rodriguez, grandmothers: Barbara J. Whiting and Elena Rosas Valverde. She is survived by her Mother, Ann Arnett and Father, Damon Arnett; siblings: Julie Arnett Longoria (John), Diane Arnett-Hernandez (Ricardo), and Melissa Arnett; several uncles and aunts, her beloved niece and nephews: Christina Longoria, Jhon Anthony Longoria, and Emilio Hernandez; as well as great nephews Daniel, Kayden and great niece Alliana as well as numerous other close relatives.
She was a constant source of joy to her friends and family. She will be forever missed.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary service, Wednesday, January 1st, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. A Mass will held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 at St. Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church 126 West Oltorf Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
