

Ralph Lee McElroy Ralph Lee McElroy, age 64, of Austin, passed away on July 26th, 2007. Ralph was born on August 28th, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to Homer and Eleanor McElroy. His family moved to Corpus Christi in 1952, where he attended public school. He moved to Austin in 1962 to attend The University of Texas, receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees. After extensive travels and studies in Europe, he became an accomplished linguist, returning to Austin in 1968 to start the Ralph McElroy Translation Company. This initial venture led to a long and fulfilling career as an Austin entrepreneur. Among his many successes were such Austin icons as Les Amis Café and The Old Pecan Street Café. Ralph led an uncommonly full life, his devotion to his family and friends always shining brightly. A generous host, an adoring husband and father, a committed friend, he lives on through those who loved him. Ralph is survived by Diane, his loving wife of 20 years; his children Wade, Ryan, Anastasia, and Natasha; his mother Eleanor; and his sister Doris King, all of Austin. Memorial services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 30th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29th at the funeral home.
