

Raymond Merril Fedro was born in Lovilia, Iowa on December 19, 1919. He married Helen Ruth Keeny of Des Moines, Iowa on March 8, 1941. In 1942, together with his two brothers, he entered military service with the U.S. Army 34th Division serving in the 109th Medical Battalion of the European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign. Much of his time was served in Italy where he was awarded five bronze stars. He was employed by Firestone Tire Co. until he retired in 1978. He was considered a friend to all who knew him, and always made you smile with his warmth, friendliness and gift of storytelling. He passed away on April 7, 2007 and will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Raymond was devoted to and proud of his family. Those he leaves are his wife, Helen; daughter and son-in-law Rayellen and Joseph Cekuta; granddaughter, Dawna Ray Cekuta and her son, RJR Inserra, who was born on Raymonds birthday. He also leaves many nieces and nephews in Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 with the Reverend James L. Evans officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Heart Association or St. John Neumann Building Fund.
