

Raymond J McHenney passed away on January 6, 2014 in Cedar Park, Texas. He was 89 years old. Ray was born on August 19, 1924 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He came from a family of 20, which included 5 sets of twins. He served in World War II from 1942 to 1945 almost 4 years as a gunner's mate. Ray was awarded a bronze star for valor in battle while serving on the USS Shelby. He stayed in touch with those mates over the years. After his stint in the navy, Ray worked at Clark Equipment in Jackson, Michigan for 36 years. Ray relaxed by playing golf and bowling in the Clark Equipment leagues.
Ray was a generous and loving husband and father. He supported the ambitions of his children by teaching them to work hard and aim high. All five attended college. Two earned advanced degrees, one earned a patent, and two served in the military. He was happily married for 63 years to his “Peg O' My Heart”, Margaret Elaine Ellison.
Ray is survived by Peg, their five children (Monica, Mary, Margaret, Raymond Mark and Molly,) six grandchildren (Jacob Kessler, Kayla McHenney, Jonathon McHenney, Ryan Kessler, Brooke Sawyer,and Michael McHenney) and six siblings (Gerald McHenney, Fred McHenney, Jack McHenney, Jan Miner, Joyce Sherman and Mary Gulliver.)
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Church of the Savior located at 3402 Little Elm Trail in Cedar Park, Texas.
