

Raymond "R.C." Clyde Voight, Sr., age 73, born Saturday, May 11, 1935 off Bluff Springs Rd., in rural Travis County, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008, in Austin, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Raymond was the youngest of eleven children born to Sherman Fletcher and Bessie Yell Voight. As a young man, Raymond was a member of the National Guard, a master mechanic with Westinghouse Elevators and later became a member of the Iron Worker's Union Local 482, a private pilot and owner of Oakhill Auto Parts. He took pleasure in saying he helped build most of the public schools in Austin during the late 60's and early 70's and the round headquarters building at Bergstrom Air Force Base, now the Austin International Airport. He sponsored and coached girls baseball for the Oakhill Optimist League and coached boys baseball in Llano County. Upon retirement, he moved to Lake Buchanan where he enjoyed many years of fishing and growing prize winning pecans. In the mid 80's, Raymond moved to Dripping Springs, Texas, and in 2000, he moved to Hays, Texas. He counted himself blessed to have so many great friends and neighbors in Austin, Tow, Dripping Springs and Hays. Raymond was especially proud of his German heritage, his maternal ancestry and their participation in the forming of the Republic of Texas and the state of Texas. Preceding him in death are his parents and nine siblings. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Wanda Logan Voight, son, Raymond Voight, Jr. and wife Judy, daughter, Lisa R. Clifton and husband Bobby Lee, son Bradley T. Voight, grandchildren, Logan Ray and Dylan Lee Clifton, Amanda Voight, Ashley Wolfe and husband Mark, Bradford Voight, Nikki Voight, great grandchildren, Thomas Voight, Courtney Voight, Nicholas Leyva, Rueben Trevino, brother, George Henry Voight, brothers-in-law, Allen Logan, David Logan, Fred Vaughn, Charles McDonald and John Williams, sisters-in-law, Shirley Voight, Evalena Vaughn, Carol Logan and Patricia Rogers, extended grandsons, Corbin McNutt and Hunter Pena, sixty-two nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins. The family wishes to thank Dr. Todd Buchanan and Mary Michaels of the Dripping Springs Family Clinic, Dr. James Boysen and Dr. Vin Nguyen, for their extraordinary help and support. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2008, at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas. Please join us in casual dress, Dallas Cowboys or San Antonio Spurs wear. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
