Raynell Davis Dalton, age 86, passed away on June 1, 2026, after a long journey with dementia.
She was born on May 16, 1940, in Cusseta, Alabama, to Cecil and Ellen Baker.
Raynell was a devoted military wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, and a true friend to everyone she met. Although she spent many years working at Hancock Fabrics until her retirement, her true life's work was loving, caring for, and cooking for her friends and family. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and loved, and her home was always a place of warmth, comfort, and good food.
In her later years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and dear friends and cousins, George and Mary Jo Speaks. One of her favorite destinations was Cancun, where she loved relaxing in the sun and sand while enjoying margaritas and her favorite treat—coconut ice cream.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend, Chester L. Dalton; her parents-in-law, Vernon and Gaynell Dalton of Lampasas, Texas; and her parents, Cecil and Ellen Baker of Valley, Alabama.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sherill Franke and her husband, Monte, and Tammy Boriack and her husband, Tom; five grandchildren: Kyler Boline; McKaul Boline and his wife, Katie; Ashley Boriack; Tanner Boriack and his wife, Kate; and Macy Boriack; and five great-grandchildren, Paisley Boline, Adelyn Boline, Lilly Boline, Deliah Boline, and Charlotte Boriack.
A visitation and memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills, 9700 Anderson Mill Road, Austin, Texas. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband during a family burial service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
