
Rebecca Anthony Wingo Rebecca (Becky) A. Wingo died on Monday, April 19, 2004. She was born in Austin on April 1, 1924, to P.J. and Alice Lane Anthony. She attended the Austin Public Schools from 1930 to 1941; she earned a B.B.A. degree from the University of Texas in 1945. Following graduation, Becky was employed as Secretary to the Dean of Womens Office at UT. She married 1st Lt. James Wingo, U.S. Air Force, on September 1, 1945. In 1947 they moved to Houston where Becky worked at Rice Institute as Secretary to the Physics Department while her husband was in Dental School. After returning to Austin, she became an active member of the Tenth District Dental Auxiliary and served as President of this organization in 1958 the same year that Dr. Wingo was President of the local Dental Society. Throughout the 1960s Becky was a volunteer Robin at St. Davids Hospital and was secretary to the Auxiliary Board for one year during this period. She became a member of the Northwest Recreation Center Advisory Board in 1988, and served a term of four years. Mrs. Wingo is survived by her two sons, Scott and Lane, and one grandchild, Kristin Wingo, of Marietta, Georgia. Her husband, Dr. James E. Wingo, and her two sisters, Mary Alice McIntire and Eleanor Beall, preceded her in death. In accordance with Beckys wishes, no services are to be held, and her cremains are to be interred at the Austin Memorial Park.
