Dick was born in Melrose, Mass. on October 15, 1932, joined the Air Force and served in France during the Korean War, went on to get a degree in electrical engineering from Merrimack College, and spent most of his career working in air defense for Raytheon Co., which took him and his family to different spots and adventures around the world, from New England to Germany to Iran to Texas and to Saudi Arabia.
A son of Irish immigrants, he was a lover of all things Irish. He loved music and singing too and was well known for singing Danny Boy at family get-togethers. He also sang in many church choirs throughout his life. In retirement, he dedicated himself to Habitat for Humanity, the Knights of Columbus and St. Catherine’s “Margarita Choir”, as well as Meals on Wheels. His Catholic faith and family were very important to him, he was thoughtful and loyal, and he liked a good time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Eileen, his children Dan and Maura, sisters-in law, and many nieces and nephews, who will always hold him in their hearts. He joins his family who passed before him – his parents Thomas and Catherine (Lambe) Carbin; his sisters Sr. Nell Carbin and Peggy (Bob) McHugh; and his brothers Tom (Grace), Kevin (Genevieve), George (Kay), Joe, John (Ann Marie), Bill and Eddie Carbin. We picture them welcoming him into a big family reunion.
