

Richard Morris Coose was born on February 21, 1920, in San Antonio, Texas, to John Nicholas Coose and Jessie Lee Phillips and passed away on February 16, 2017 in Austin, Texas. He grew up in San Antonio and attended college before joining the Army as a pilot at the beginning of WWII. He became a flying instructor and later worked in Air Traffic Control retiring from the Air Force with the rank of Major. His career took him and his family all around the US and to several other countries, including Japan and Germany.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth (Judy) Julia Durrell, and his brother, John Phillips Coose.
He is survived by his second wife Ana Silvia (Ortega) Coose and step-daughter Sarah (child Ethan); his five children, Phil, Tom, Joyce, Julie, and Jeanne; his grandchildren Jacqueline (children Brandon, Dakota), Vivien (children Stephen and Crystal), Therese (child Bryce), James (child Ethan), Laura (children Nicole, Matthew and Thomas), Rachel (children Georgia and Adele), Andrew, Nicole (child Venancio), Tula (children Zoe and Athena), Kristen, Jeremy (children Milo and Penelope), Melissa (child Lily), Jennifer, Jacob (child Logan), Kathryn, Peter (children Jace and Loren), Heidi, and Sara; and great-great-grandchildren Kristopher, Simon, Samuel, Sebastian, and Eden.
Richard was a wonderful husband and father and much loved by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His family would like to thank the staff at Hospice Austin, Brush Country Nursing and Rehabilitation, and Visiting Angels for the end of life care and love provided to him and his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be made to the
Alzheimer's Association or Hospice Austin.
The Funeral Service was held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Road. Interment followed at 2:30 P.M. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
