Richard Lee Hernandez

August 5, 1962 – April 21, 2025
Obituary of Richard Lee Hernandez
IN THE CARE OF

Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park

Richard Lee Hernandez was called home on Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 62.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, JoAnn Fabian-Hernandez; their children, Jasmine Fabian, Desiree (Brandon) Callahan, and Daniel (Araceli) Fabian; their grandchildren and greatest joys of Richard’s life, Jayden Castruita, Averi Castruita, Zoe Fabian, Hudson Callahan, DJ Fabian, and Holland Callahan. He also leaves behind his mother, Rose Mary Hernandez; siblings, Pete Jr., Gilbert, Bobby, and Joanna; and many nieces and nephews. Richard is preceded in death by his father, Pete Hernandez, and brother, Bonofacio Hernandez.

Richard was born on August 5, 1962, in Austin, Texas. He met JoAnn in 1998 and fell in love with her and her three children he so loved as his own. With a goal of providing for his loved ones, Richard became a successful business owner for more than a decade.

Throughout his life, Richard was an avid baseball enthusiast. He relished the excitement of catching a Texas Rangers game with his wife, often in celebration of his birthday. He also enjoyed daily walks at Lady Bird Lake in his hometown.

In retirement, Richard loved nothing more than spending time with his six grandchildren. On the weekends, he could be found cheering them on at a baseball, football, or soccer game, a dance competition, or gymnastics showcase. Each of them knew the unwavering love and support of their PeePaw.

Richard placed great importance on looking out for his family, never missing a weekly visit with his mom and nephew, Juan Angel. His life was a testament to the enduring strength of family bonds, and his memory will be held dear in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
