Richard Wayne “Shorty” Jennings passed away on the 5th of April 2011 in Austin. He was born on the 28th of December, 1950 in Port Arthur. After his education, he held a variety of jobs, ranging from a truck driver, a millwright and an iron worker. Those who knew Shorty can share many stories and memories about his personality and adventures, but most of all they will say he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his sister, Tina Jennings; and grandson, Jaiden. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 33 years, Brenda Jennings of Elgin; children, Michael “Shawn” Jennings (Jamie), Michelle Jennings Fruge (Mark), and Daniel “DJ” Leitzke (Brandy); his 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, his parents Nelson Simon of LA and Georgia Morvant of Groves, TX, and step-father, Matthew Morvant; brothers, Larry and Danny Jennings; sister, Angela Creel.
