Richard Allan Kutner

We will miss Richard's encyclopedic knowledge of music, novels and current events, awesome insights and really bad jokes, and his invaluable ability to simplify bureaucratic jargon and conjure "out of the box" solutions. He was a gifted storyteller and charmed most everyone he encountered. His love, warmth, and intellect will be missed.

Richard attended Rice University, The University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from the University of Houston with an Accounting degree. As a successful IT Consultant, Richard became friends with many clients; however, his most valued relationships were with his children, Ryan and Barra. Richard was both a friend and a guiding father to his children.

The son of Richard Allan Kutner and Daina Gerson Kutner (both deceased), Richard is survived by his son Ryan Kutner, his grandson Beau Zalenski, and his ex-wife Penny Younker. Sadly, Richard's daughter, Barra Kutner, (blessed in memory) pre-deceased him. Richard is also survived by his older sister Kathy Friedman and her sons Adam and Eric; his younger sister Charlotte Kutner Heffler, brother-in-law Marvin Heffler and their kids, Michael and Marissa Heffler.

The family wishes to express particular love and appreciation to Robbie Zalta and Olivia Herrera for their generosity and the loving, caring ways in which they each honored Richard's wishes in his final weeks. Dear friend Bob Zirl, M.D provided tremendous guidance and comfort to Richard and his family throughout his entire fight against cancer. We also wish to thank Richard's unique "village" of life-long friends, who also contributed so mightily to his care and comfort. In all of their capable and caring hands, Richard felt loved and appreciated.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Kagan-Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet St., Houston, TX.
