

In addition to a long career teaching 20th century cultural and intellectual history at the University of Texas at Austin, Kip enjoyed living and teaching in other countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Australia, Finland, Brazil, and Indonesia.
Kip also enjoyed writing. His five books included “War Babies: the Generation that Changed America” about the lives and careers of Americans born between 1939 and 1945, and “Not Like Us: How Europeans Have Loved, Hated, and Transformed American Culture Since World War II.”
Kip is survived by his wife Molly Dougherty. They were together for 33 years. He is also survived by his son Joshua, daughter-in-law Heidi, and grandchildren Declan and Dasha.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank Natasha Muyenzi and Aliceia Martinez, Kip's kind and thoughtful caregivers in the last year of his life.

A Memorial Service will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Drive Austin, Tx 78731, on May 16, 2025 at 2:00 PM.
