

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Monico Diaz; his father; mother; three brothers; one sister; and one nephew.
Richard is survived by his wife of 49 ½ years, Marian; sons, Ryck, Steve, Orlando and wife Esmeralda, and Larry; grandchildren, Johnathon (Brianna), Ryan, Megan, Abel and Nicholas; siblings, Mary Margret Ramirez (Max), Monico Reyes (Carlota) and Mary Jane Ruiz; several cousins; nieces and nephews.
Richard was very active serving the community of San Francisco Javier Catholic Church for many years. He also served as an officer in several areas in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th Degree Knight. He was Charter Grand Knight for Council 13460 and was essential in the formation of Father Anthony Ferrer assembly 3052 as well as District Deputy 113 for two years.
As Manager for Reyes Towing his service to the community in general was very much appreciated for his generosity in allowing the Austin Fire Department / Travis County Agencies, the Fire Departments of surrounding counties as well as the fireman trainees of the sister city of Saltillo Coahuila, Mexico to train on site along with donating vehicles to further the training of specialized extracting equipment for fireman trainings. His interaction with the different law enforcement agencies earned him much respect.
Serving as Pallbearers are his nephews, Renee Flores, Mark Reyes, Francisco De La Rosa, John, Max and Paul Ramirez. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at San Francisco Javier Catholic Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 pm at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
