

Richard A. Zimmerman, Sr., age 78, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2017. He was born May 31, 1938, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Son of Milo and Aretha Zimmerman. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force and served 6 years in which he left with an honorable discharge as an Airman Second Class. After the military, he went into sales until he retired in 2000. He loved communicating with people, he had a big heart and he was a cancer survivor.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Milo and Aretha Zimmerman; sister Hazel Zimmerman (Kirkpatrick); brothers Ray Zimmerman and James Zimmerman; son Richard A. Zimmerman Jr. He is survived by the love of his life of 50 years, Sandra Wade; children, Michelle (Zimmerman) Prassel and husband, Steven, Jimmy Zimmerman and wife, Amy, Allen Zimmerman and wife, Lisa, Paula Zimmerman (Bringhurst), Phoebe Zimmerman (Carroll), his brother Jack Zimmerman and niece Teresa Murley. He has 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
He touched so many people, friends, family and relatives in so many ways. He will be greatly missed.
Since this is a Celebration of Life and to honor his love for the Cornhuskers, we ask that you wear something red. GO BIG RED!
A Celebration of Richard’s Life will be at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 12, 2017, in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like contributions to be made in Richard’s honor to the Heart Foundation or charity of your choice.
