Ricky Lynn Collis, born March 20, 1951 in Olton, Lamb County, Texas, passed away October 23, 2020 in his home in Austin, Texas. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Cynthia. He is also survived by his sister Connie and brother-in-law Victor Dunn, his nephews Jeremiah and Ryan Dunn, and his brothers Randy Collis and Ronnie Collis and his wife Kathy. He was preceded in death by his nephew Nicholas Dunn and his parents Charles Collis and Bessie Maureen Collis.
Rick was a Government professor at ACC and taught thousands of students over 35 years. He earned his Master’s in Political Science at the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master’s in Political Economy at the University of Texas at Dallas. Rick had been an avid golfer, was an amazing cook, enjoyed reading history and listening to all kinds of music. He loved baseball, especially his Boston Red Sox, and adored his many rescue dogs and cats. He was loved by his family and friends for his kind heart, generous spirit, wicked wit, laughter and love of life. Unfortunately for his family, he was able to connect any situation in life to a Family Guy or Simpsons episode which he was always happy to share.
Rick asked that his ashes be scattered over the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland along with those of his beloved dogs Max and Emma.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the American Heart Association or Austin Pets Alive.
Late Fragment "And did you get what you wanted from this life, even so?
I did. And what did you want? To call myself beloved, to feel myself beloved on
the earth.’’
