Ridge was born in Chicago on October 27, 1948 to Robert Pierce and Elizabeth Ann Williams and grew up in Bellaire, Texas. He received a BA and JD from Baylor University followed by an MBA from the University of Texas. He practiced real estate law in Austin for the past 35 years and was a fixture in the title industry.
Ridge married Tommie Jean Smith in 1973 and together they were blessed with three terrific children, Maggie, Sam, and Whitney. Ridge was a hard-working man, but always made time for his family and staying fit. His early life involved swimming, baseball, exploring the mountains of central Colorado, snow skiing, golf, scouts—earning his Eagle Scout award, cycling, and eventually becoming an Austin triathlete. His dedication to staying active was imparted to all of his children. They all looked up to and adored him. They will miss him terribly.
Ridge also loved music, art, fine wine, his dog, a stiff martini, delivering handmade Easter and Halloween baskets to his clients, his loyal and dedicated employees, Stacy and Stella, steak night, and perfecting his favorite cookie recipe. He was blessed to have loved his life, his family, and his work.
Ridge was preceded in death by his father Robert. He is survived by his wife Tommie, daughter Maggie and her husband Bruce Baum, son Sam, daughter Whitney, mother Betty, and brother Scott and his wife Jill and their children Jason, Jennifer, and Victoria.
Ridge's life will be celebrated Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 10:00am at the Smith Family Chapel at Riverbend Church, 4214 N Capital of Texas Hwy, Austin, TX 78746.
