Robert Gonzalez

Born on March 27, 1961, in Austin, Robert was the son of Ricardo Gonzalez and Maria Gonzalez and the youngest of three boys. He grew up alongside his brothers, Ricardo Gonzalez and Oscar Gonzalez, both of whom survive him.

Robert was a devoted father to his son, Robert Rene Gonzalez and his wife, Rebekah Gonzalez, and his daughter, Lisa Marie Jauregui and her husband, Paul Jauregui. He was also a proud and loving grandfather to his four grandchildren, Marissa Gonzalez, Nicolas Gonzalez, Brooklyn Jauregui, and Kate Jauregui.

Family was at the center of Robert’s life, and there was little he was more proud of than his children and grandchildren. He spoke about them often, sharing their accomplishments and stories with his friends and neighbors. His pride in his family was unmistakable, and the love he had for them was constant.

Robert was a lifelong outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time in nature. Some of his most treasured memories were made at his deer lease in Fredericksburg, Texas, a place that had been part of his life since he was a young boy, when he would go with his father, Ricardo. As Robert grew older and became a father himself, he continued that tradition, taking Robert and Lisa to the deer lease throughout their childhood and passing along his love of the outdoors to the next generation.

He also loved camping and backpacking with his children, especially around Pedernales Falls State Park. These trips became more than adventures; they were part of the childhood he created for his children and memories they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

Robert was known for being an exceptionally hard worker, a quality that defined him throughout his life. As a young father, he worked tirelessly and made sacrifices to provide for his family. Through his example, he taught his children the importance of hard work, responsibility, perseverance, and taking care of the people you love.

Those who knew Robert also knew his generous heart. His friends and neighbors describe a man who was honest, caring, dependable, and always willing to help. If a neighbor needed a hand, Robert was often the first person to show up, offering his time without hesitation and expecting nothing in return.

Robert lived his life with strength, generosity, and a deep devotion to his family. He leaves behind a legacy not measured simply by the years he lived, but by the family he loved, the values he passed down, the traditions he created, and the countless ways he showed up for the people around him.

He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, brothers, extended family, friends, and neighbors. The lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the memories made around campfires, fishing trips, and weekends at the deer lease will continue to live on through those who loved him.

His family will remember him most as a hardworking and loving father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man with a big heart who was always there when someone needed him.

Funeral Services

Funeral services honoring Robert’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, Texas 78731.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery.
