Robert Kleinman was a loving father and grandfather, rocket scientist, family filmmaker, sailing aficionado, bridge master, skilled "debater" and all-around terrible driver. He also had an unbelievably restless mind. Probably the only Big Band drumming, aeronautical engineer who had his letters to the editor of the Dallas Morning News actually published, Bob was truly one of a kind. Born in Cleveland in 1929, Bob showed signs early on of the insatiable curiosity and brilliant mind that would guide his career path and gain his entry into Mensa. As an adolescent, his family moved to Queens, NY, where he quickly gravitated to the newly built LaGuardia Airport. One of his favorite pastimes was to climb over the security fence to lie on the ground for hours staring up at the jets as they roared overhead. Bob never lost that incredible desire to experience and understand all that life has to offer. He will be greatly missed by his children Deborah and David, his grandson Cole, and all the friends and family who were lucky enough to be touched by his spirit. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 8, 2008 at Austin Memorial Park. Obituary and guestbook online at wcfish.com
