

Robert L. Miller December 29, 1922 ~ August 18, 2005 Robert Lambie Miller departed this life August 18, 2005. The day prior he enjoyed his usual routine of going to the office and taking an evening walk with Anna. Robert, a native Austinite, was born at Seton Hospital on December 29, 1922, to Louise Lambie Miller and John Dodd Miller. He was reared in the tenth ward at 100 Red River St. He was owner of Miller Blueprint Co., an Austin institution established by his parents in 1920. He attended Palm School, graduated from Austin High School in 1940, and received a degree in physics from the University of Texas in 1944. Robert enjoyed a lifelong love of mathematics and performed complicated calculations in his head faster than most of us could with a calculator. After graduating from UT he joined the U.S. Army and served honorably in the Signal Corps until 1946. After serving his country, Robert returned to Austin and joined his father at Miller Blueprint Co. He was proud to be a member of the Downtown Rotary Club for over 50 years. Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anna Buchanan Miller. He is also survived by his children and their families: Lydia Miller; Bob Miller and E.J. Romero; Cate Miller, M.D. and Michael McGinnis; Luci Miller and Jarrel Maurice, of Austin, and Ida Miller and Nicholas L. Hoover of San Marcos. He also will be greatly missed by his seven grandchildren: Josh and Sam Miller, Elizabeth and Hanna McGinnis, Michael and Margaret Hoover, Madi Maurice; and his extended family at Miller Blueprint. A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 21, 2005, at 3:00 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church located at 200 East Eighth St. with a reception to follow at his home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the John and Louise Miller Scholarship Fund at the UT Ex-Students Association, C/O Eleanor Moore, P.O. Box 7278, Austin, TX 78713-7278. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ken Kroll, Dr. Beth Miller and Dr. Michael Watkins for their wonderful care in keeping Robert healthy, particularly over the last three years of his life.
