

Col. Robert M. (Bob) Teasdale, USAF, Retd Dont cry because hes gone - Smile because he was here As written by Robert M. (Bob) Teasdale, who died peacefully on December 6, 2004. Bob was born on November 17, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio to Ada and Milton Teasdale. He attended schools in East Cleveland, Ohio and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Following a short period of time in the business world, Bob enlisted in the Army Air Corps. He was sent to the old SAACC in San Antonio, Texas and received his wings at San Marcos Army Air Base. While at San Marcos, he met Cornelia (Cics) Mason, who was to become his wife for the next 60 years. Bob joined his B-24 bomber crew at Tucson, Arizona and, after several moves, finally arrived at Charleston, South Carolina. The crew picked up their own bird at Mitchell Field, New York and flew it all the way to Tunis, North Africa. Following two or three missions over Europe from Tunis, the unit was moved to Cerignola, Italy from which the balance of fifty missions was completed. Following his overseas tour, Bob was assigned to recruiting duty and eventually into the personnel field. Personnel assignments included French Morocco, England and Germany, in addition to numerous stateside air bases. Following his retirement in 1970, he and Cics returned to Austin, Texas and bought their home. He enjoyed many years of playing golf and being a member of the Austin Senior Golf Association. He was an avid stamp collector, a train enthusiast, and he and his wife loved their worldwide travels, including numerous cruises and driving through most of the states. He just celebrated his 40th Wine & Cheese Birthday Bash. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Marjorie and Betty, and their respective husbands. Bob is survived by his wife, Cornelia; his son, Robert C. and wife, Wendy, of Navarre, Florida; his son, Dr. Thomas A. and wife, Emily, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and son James E. and wife, Terri, of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Gretchen and husband Nick, Erin, and Mary Kate and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial will be held on Saturday, December 11th, at Weed Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 12:00 noon.
