Bob grew up in Mississippi, and joined the United States Air Force July 9, 1958, retiring honorably July 31, 1978. He served during the Korean conflict and Vietnam War, retiring as a Master Sergeant from Bergstrom AFB, Austin, Texas. He worked at Case/RDO equipment and Sam’s, before retiring for good in 2008. His passions were the Lord, his church, and his family. His testimony for the Lord never wavered, he was always the first at his church to work, help, or give inspiration. His children and grandchildren knew him as a great supporter, with his last weekend spent celebrating grandparents day.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved Hatsuko “Ann” Hayashi, his mother Yonnie Spell Hughes and Martha De La Rosa Rutledge.
He is survived by his son Mark Rutledge and wife Tamara Riddle Rutledge and their children Miko, Ian, Allen and Yumi, and his daughter Susan Rutledge Beyer and husband Joe “Rusty” Beyer and their children Emily and Noah. Bob also is survived by his brother John Rutledge and wife Judianne and their children and dear sister Jean Pettus and husband Wesley and their children. He is also survived by many of his fellow Teri Road Baptist Church members, which he treated, supported, and loved, as his family.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Sunday, September 18, 2016, with a Funeral Service to follow at 12:00 P.M., in the Chapel of Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
