

Robert Earl Simpson was born to the late Earl Willard Simpson and Kathryn Lillian Simpson on September 15, 1946, in Brazil, Indiana. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 28, 2016, at the age of 69.
Robert Earl Simpson served over 20 years in the United States Air Force. He retired as a Master Sergeant specializing in photo reconnaissance. Upon his retirement in 1991, Robert served as a Corrections Officer with the Travis County Sheriff’s Department. He then ventured to a new career at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport where he became manager of Huntleigh Security.
Robert was a man who appreciated life. Blessed with a beautiful voice, he loved singing and listening to good music from the past and present. Robert was also a music major while attending Butler University in Indiana. He loved spending quality time with his beautiful wife watching their favorite television shows, entertaining family and friends, as well as supporting his children and grandchildren at various events. Being an avid Dallas Cowboys and UT fan, he enjoyed watching and talking about sports with his only son Robert Jr., with whom he cherished.
Robert Earl Simpson will always be remembered for his hearty laughter, amazing smile, gentle spirit, and the undying love he had for family. This man never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved mother Kathryn Simpson (California); his loving wife, Sylvia, of 49 years; four children: Robin Simpson Deary (Michael), Tracy Simpson, Marcie Curl (Marq), and Robert E. Simpson, Jr., all residing in Austin, Texas; brother-in-law, James Woods (Cheryl) and sister-in-law, Edna Davis, both from Columbia, South Carolina.
Robert was also blessed with five grandchildren: Nadia, Trevor, Brasjion, Naisjah, and Bryce; three stepgrandchildren: Ashton, Morgan, Jadan; one stepgreat-grandchild, Caidaya; a host of loving relatives and friends throughout the states, all of whom will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4, 2016, beginning at 1:00 P.M., with a Funeral Service to follow at 3:30 P.M., at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
