Robert Lee Singleton

Robert L. Singleton Jr., AIA, of Austin, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008. He was born in San Antonio on December 13, 1947 to Cleo Mae Rentschler Singleton and Robert L. Singeleton Sr. Robert was preceded in death by Grant Singleton – Brother; Delbert Rentschler – Grandfather; Ina Rentschler Ross – Grandmother; Terry Ross – Grandfather; James Jeptha Singleton – Grandfather; Adele Fomby Singleton – Grandmother and Gilford "Mack" Hanna – Father-in-law. In addition to being survived by his parents; he is survived by his wife, Sharon Hanna Singleton; children Nathan R. Singleton – 33 yrs, and wife, Melody and Leanna M. Singleton – 27 yrs. Robert is also survived by sisters: Sonya Holesovsky - Eddie (Husband); Dawn Magro - Louis (Husband); Susan Hanna, Sister-in-Law; Cindy Richardson - John (Husband), Sister-in-Law; Linda Flens, Sister-in-Law. Other survivors include: Nieces: Marilyn Magro, Amber Moreno (Moses, Husband), Lisa Rebouche (Jack, Husband), Nicole Rank (Jeff, Husband); Great Niece;: Amber Brooke Magro, Anna Kate Richardson, Abby Rank Nephews: Brandon Holesovsky, Blake Holesovsky, Brian Flens (Melissa, Wife), Jeff Richardson (Jen, Wife), Kevin Richardson; Great Nephews: Cole Richardson, Trey Rebouche, Matthew and Everett Moreno; Lillian Hanna, Mother-in-law; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who were family to him. He received his B.A. in Architecture from The University of Texas at Austin and worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife as an Architect/Park Master Planner/Project Manager, until his retirement July 2005. He felt great pride in the work he did with the state parks; but especially at Big Bend, Guadalupe River, Texas State Railroad, Ray Roberts, Caprock Canyon, Sabine Pass, Choke Canyon and Mustang Island State Parks. He will be missed by all his former co-workers at TPWD who were more like family and a great support during his two year illness. We like to think that during his 34 years with TPWD, he left his footprints across the State of Texas. He enjoyed anything outdoors; especially fishing and the beach. He loved his yard work, his classic cars and Cadillacs! He and his wife, Sharon who married June 6, 1970, had been his best friend and soulmate for 40 years. His family was most important to him, especially his son, Nathan & daughter, Leanna and great niece Amber Brooke & great nephews Matthew and Everett. He enjoyed many good times with long time friends Audrey and Wayne Henson, Lilli Poulson, Mike Poulson and Sandy and Mike Hightower. He will be missed so dearly by everyone who knew him. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 28, 2008 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel officiated by Reverend Lou Sneed, Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church. Internment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
