Bobby Tannert, age 56, died December 14, 2018, after a five-year battle with cancer. He was born November 24, 1962, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Bobby grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School and The University of Texas. He earned a BS in Chemical Engineering and an MS in Manfacturing Systems Engineering, specializing in robotics and digital control theory. As a software engineer, Bobby worked at developing the Tomahawk Cruise Missile target control system and he also worked on a Navy tactical system. Bobby is survived by his parents, Robert and Theresa Tannert, his wife of 31 years, Debbie, his daughter, Christina, his son, Jonathan, and his sister, Karen Tannert, as well as many special extended family members and cherished friends. Bobby enjoyed working weekends on construction projects around his house with his father. He also loved board game nights with his family. His passion for scuba diving took him to many beautiful islands. He loved playing the piano, especially Boogie-Woogies and the music of Duke Ellington. His sports interests included Taekwondo, Racquetball, Fencing and Yoga. Imagine a computer nerd who is also a great athlete.
