Robert Randle Wear

Robert Randle Wear of Austin, TX, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully into the hands of the Lord on January 21, 2009. Bob was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 7, 1936 to Joseph Robert Wear and Catherine Randle Wear. He attended Fort Worth public schools, Texas Christian University, and the University of Texas. In 1960, he received a BA in Liberal Arts from TCU, and a BS in Petroleum Engineering from UT. In 1967, he received a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering in Hydrology and Water Resources from UT. It was at the University of Texas that he met his future wife, Lou Anne Langford, the love of his life and soul-mate. They were married in June 1960 and shared 48 wonderful years together. During their 48 years of marriage they lived in West Texas where he worked for Pan American Petroleum Co; Seattle, Washington where he worked for Boeing, and finally back to Austin where he worked for the Texas Water Development Board in Water Planning until he retired in 1996. Bob loved and lived life to the fullest. He was an ardent and avid Longhorn fan of all sports, and a member of the Longhorn Foundation. He was a marathoner and runner for over forty years. He enjoyed dancing, playing the piano, and traveling with his wife and children. Family, friends and the love of God were the most important aspects in his life. He was a member of Bertram United Methodist Church where he served on various boards and committees, attended adult Sunday School, and sang in the choir. Bob is survived by wife Lou Anne, son Tom Wear (Joyce), daughter Susan Olsen (Mike), adored grandchildren, cousins Will, Jim and Ben Wear, and Robert Haltom. He will be lovingly remembered for his compassion, kindness, generosity, faithfulness and respect as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Grateful appreciation for Bob's love and care during his extended illness is given to Hearthstone Health Care in Round Rock, the Court of Round Rock, Odyssey Hospice and Hospice Austin. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, January, 23rd with memorial services following at 10:00 a.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, with Reverend Chris Bistline officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of Bertram, P.O. Box 197, Bertram, Texas 78605 or the charity of your choice.
