

Rodney Lee Turner, 45, formerly of Amarillo, died May 7, 2009, after a four year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease). Memorial service will be Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cedar Park. A casket burial at sea service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19th in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Port Aransas. Rodney was born to Robert and Jane Turner on January 21, 1964 in Amarillo, TX. He attended Amarillo Public Schools. At age 18 he moved to the Austin area to continue his education. He was employed with Texas Instruments and then Solectron. It was there that he met and married Maria Elena Valdez in 1989. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Lee Turner in 2004. Survivors include his wife Maria; two sons, Joe Teran and wife Glenna; Jeremiah Valdez and wife Andrea and grand-daughter Evolet; one daughter, Jacqueline Valdez. His mother, Jane Turner and brother, Jim Turner both of Amarillo; sisters, Sharilyn Parr of Blackwell, TX, Janie Cavender of Little Elm, TX and Terri Montes and husband Victor of Amarillo, TX; nephews, Robert Whitlow, Ryan Montes, Eli Turner, Tristan Montes, Aidan Montes; and nieces, Christina Taylor, Kimberly Bottem, Jaimie Hill and Melaina Montes. The family suggests memorials be to the ALS Association South Texas Chapter, 8600 Wurzbach Road #700 San Antonio, TX. 78240.
