Roger Eugene Noxon

Husband, dad, pepaw, brother, uncle and friend, Roger Eugene Noxon, age 75, of Marquez, Texas entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 19, 2026. We celebrate knowing we will see him again.

Born January 22, 1951, to Willard Mariam Noxon and Loretta Albertha Schreiber in Lincoln, Nebraska. He later moved to Austin, Texas in 1976. He was the middle child of 3 and the only son.

Roger was preceded in death by his mom and dad. Roger is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sheila Noxon; his 2 sons, Jake Eugene Noxon (Jessica) of Huntsville, Texas and Lucas Dillon Noxon of Manchaca, Texas; sisters, Nancy Kay Ternes (Richard) of Walton, Nebraska and Tammi Jo Granger (Phillip) of Dripping Springs, Texas; and his favorite uncle of all times, Charles Moeller (Leslie). With the most important being his cherished grandsons, Jenson Jude Noxon and Jordy Boone Noxon of Huntsville, Texas.

Roger graduated from Lincoln Southeast High School and attended the University of Nebraska, having always been an avid Cornhusker fan for life. Go Big Red!

Roger enjoyed the following professions over the years including firefighter, real estate agent, and then owning his own paint contracting business until retirement in 2024. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Many dove hunts, and pheasant hunts were enjoyed with long time friends and family. Mention fishing and he would grab a pole. He enjoyed beginning to teach his grandsons the love of fishing at the lake.

In 1984 Roger married Sheila Pennington. They met playing racquetball and continued to enjoy running the Capitol 10K and the Schlotzsky’s Bun Run annually and working out in the gym. They also enjoyed traveling together. They moved to Dripping Springs, Texas in 1996 where they lived for 28 years before moving to their lake home in Marquez, Texas, where Roger continued his love of fishing.

Sports was always very dear to Roger, especially baseball and basketball. Roger coached both of his sons and their friends in both of these sports. His teams were usually among the top in the league. Many of his players remember him as a great coach who was fair and knew how to highlight strengths and coach weaknesses. After the little league years and when his boys were in high school, they always knew they could count on their dad’s presence at all of their games. Now he will be the angel in the outfield and on the sidelines for both of his grandsons as they are beginning to play sports.

Roger was truly a great man - one of those salts of the earth personalities that people knew they could trust. Above all else, he was a family man that loved serving others. He was honest and fair in all circumstances and to those that knew him there is a void that will not be filled but his true fun-loving spirit lives in their hearts and minds forever.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28th at Cook Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29th at Canyon Church, 4000 US Hwy 290 Dripping Springs, Texas 78620. Final resting place will be in Ridge, Texas at Holly Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Jay Moeller, Ricky Roddey, Oscar Huerta, Logan Carter, Rodney Davis, and Kris Jones.

The family would like to thank the staff, doctors, and nurses at St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan, Texas along with the hospice nurse from Vital Caring Group for their loving care.
