He earned three post graduate degrees in the field of Theatre Arts, taught for over 32 years, and was active in education and community theatre. Roland studied at Texas Tech University and the University of Georgia. He taught at Converse College (SC), Wayland Baptist University (TX), Lamar University (TX), and Hastings College (NE). He was also the managing director of the Lubbock Theatre Centre in the 70s. Dr. Myers’ production of “Godspell” won first place in the Dundalk (Ireland) theatre festival in 1980. All total, he was a veteran of over 175 productions during his lifetime.
Dr. Myers was married to Juanice Newbill Myers for over 50 years and they had two children, Milaka Falk and Lance Myers and five grandchildren all of Austin. He also leaves a sister and brother-in-law, Pam Harper and husband, Jack in Lubbock.
