

He was born on May 27, 1963, in Kingsville, TX to Jose Rodolfo Mendez and Maria Garcia Mendez.
He was preceded in death by his wife Annabelle Mendez, his parents Jose Rodolfo Mendez and Maria Garcia Mendez. Paternal Grandparents Pedro and Lucia Mendez and Maternal Grandparents Abraham and Elisa Bazan Garcia.
He is survived by his daughter, Tatum Mendez of Portland, Oregon, and his two sons Joseph and Jackson Mendez of Austin, Texas. Survivors include five sisters, Nilda Dumpit of Kingsville, Sylvia M. (Jacob) Perez of Kingsville, Rachel Mendez-Cisneros of Kingsville, Ruby (Frank) Lopez of Kingsville, and Roxanne (James) Howell of Cleburne; two brothers, Rudy (Anna) Mendez Jr. of Kingsville, Ruben (Jana) Mendez of Kingsville, TX.
He was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, known for his strength, his humor, and the deep love he had for his family.
He spent more than 35 years working as a Senior Technician in Austin, including 20 years with Samsung Semiconductors, and earlier with Freescale/Motorola and AMD. He took great pride in his work and was part of a team that earned a patent in semiconductor technology.
Rolando loved being with his family, especially on trips to Port Aransas. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, UT Longhorns, and Houston Astros, and had a special love for good barbecue, fishing, playing guitar, and celebrating holidays with the people closest to him.
Rolando made everyone around him feel welcome and cared for. His kindness, warmth, and steady presence left a lasting mark on all who knew him, and he will be remembered always for the love he gave so freely.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary to begin at 4:30 p.m. at Cook Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W William Cannon Dr, Austin, Texas 78749.
