He was born to Dewey and Ruby Davis on October 3, 1940. Ron left home at an early age to join the Navy. He travelled extensively and later became a master electrician. He worked until retirement as an Electrical Inspector for the City of Austin.
He epitomized the ‘outlaw country’ persona. He was married five times, but settled down to marry Eleanor Spiller - whom he courted through Honky Tonking at the Broken Spoke when Willy had short hair. Together they had 2 children: Don and Ruby.
Ron was a tattooed, swearing sailor when tattoos and swearing were looked down upon. More importantly, he was a dedicated father who was always there for his children - as a little league coach, helping out at Cub scouts and 4-H or wherever he was needed. He taught his children to ride horses and work hard. [No, seriously, he was always working on different construction projects for most of his adult life.]
Ron was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor, his brother Phillip, sister Kathleen and Marlene, and his daughter Bonnie, granddaughter Ashley, and nephew Tommy. He is survived by his children Sandra, Don, and Ruby as well as many grandchildren, he was especially close to his grandchildren Shane, Ronald, and Amber.
Ron will be laid alongside his beloved Ellie with a graveside service on Saturday, January 2nd at 2 P.M. at Cook-Walden Memorial Hill in Pflugerville.
