Ronald L. Flentge, 60 years old, finished his earthly race well and embarked on a new adventure with the Lord on Sunday evening. He will be missed. Ron was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Herbert Flentge and Diane Welch Flentge.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty Flentge; son, Ryan Flentge; daughter, Bonnie Bonstead and husband Eric; two beautiful grandchildren, Luke and Claire, whom he adore; brother Wayne Flentge and wife Debby, from Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alan Flentge.
Ron loved working on all kinds of cars. Ron could repair just about anything and was a rare breed of a mechanic. He would often diagnose car problems without the help of a computer, just by listening or driving the car.
He was also able to do anything he put his mind to. He designed and built a dragster by himself, had it painted and raced it. He loved riding his Harley and attending the ROT rallies. Ron attended Reagan High School when the Reagan Raiders “ruled “and won State Championships. He was a certified diver and loved taking his family camping, boating and telling stories around the campfire.
He faithfully volunteered for the Bridges to Life Prison Ministry (John Sage, Founder) for ten years getting to know and caring for men that society overlooked. He also loved teaching teenagers at church. Ron had a heart for teaching young people and kept them entertained with his dry sense of humor. He was retired and spent his time doing whatever he wanted and working on his 81 Corvette ( his pride and joy).
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Westoak Woods Baptist Church, 2900 West Slaughter Lane, Austin, Texas, 78748.
