

Ronald J. Ilg Ronald J. Ilg, age 61, of Austin died Monday, August 22nd after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, December 10, 1943 to John and Helen Eschuk Ilg. He received his BS in Fishery Science from Ohio State University and PhD from The University of Texas Marine Science Institute in Port Aransas, Texas. He was a marine scientist on the research ship Conrad, out of Lamont Observatory. Ronald was professor and research scientist for McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana, studying the Brineline Project. As an environmental consultant with Espey, Huston & Associates, he studied the impact of oil pipe lines to a coral reef in an unexplored portion of the Red Sea. Rons surly exterior often masked the sensitivity of his heart. His honesty, his intuitiveness and sharp wit were trademarks of his brilliant mind. He will be sorely missed as the Bloody Mary magician of the neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Ilg. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia McCoy; father, John Ilg of Cleveland, OH; sister, Natalie Switalski of Geneva, OH; and cousin, Faye Warner of Ohio. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Kasper and the staff at Texas Oncology and the Seton Medical Center staff, particularly Karla, Tracy, and Wanda for their care and welcome support. He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that Love would last for ever: I was wrong. W.H.
