

She was born January 4th,1932 in Houston, Texas. She had five older sisters and one younger sister, Shirley, and she loved and cared deeply for all of them and their families her entire life.
Rose attended Jefferson Davis High School in Houston where she was a member of the yearbook staff and Editor her senior year. She went on to college at The University of Texas at Austin from 1950 to 1954 earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After getting her degree, Rose moved back to Houston to begin her career as a teacher of Language Arts. She had met her husband to be, Arthur Lucksinger, in 1952 while at UT and they continued their relationship long-distance while Arthur finished his degree. They married on July 28, 1956. Rose and Art were devoted and proud parents to their son Gregg and two daughters, Kimberly, and Kristen.
Rose had 5 grandchildren who she absolutely adored: Kimberly’s sons Benjamin and Luke and Kristen’s daughters Kendall, Kaitlyn, Kaileigh. Family meant everything to Rose, and she loved all of her grandchildren unconditionally.
Rose enjoyed crafts and was an excellent cook and constantly shared her talents with family and friends. Rose had a real talent in calligraphy and making beautiful homemade greeting cards for family and friends on birthdays and special occasions and these are still cherished to this day. She loved teaching her grandchildren crafting techniques, to create authentic Lebanese food and to make her especially delicious thumbprint cookies. Rose also loved festively decorating her home for the holidays for all to enjoy and never faltered in this; she also made her thumbprint cookies and mailed them to her grandchildren on special occasions. She loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and Italy. One of her travels with family was to Paris where she enjoyed an impromptu outdoor picnic by the Eiffel Tower.
Rose was reserved by nature but nevertheless made friends everywhere she went.
Rose lived out her last 16 months in the home of Gregg and Sarah who want to express their heartfelt appreciation to Shirley Swearer and Lisa Fillmore for their continual support and encouragement. A special thanks to John Beaver and Jessica Medrano of Hospice Austin for their professional and loving care; and also to family friend Saundra Burse for helping on nights and weekends whenever needed.
Rose is survived by her younger sister and best friend, Shirley Swearer, her son Gregg Lucksinger and his wife Sarah, her daughter Kimberly Rees, her former husband and forever family friend Duane Rees and sons Benjamin and Luke and daughter Kristen Schmidt, her husband Brad and daughters Kendall, Kaitlyn, and Kaileigh. She was preceded in death by her husband (of 62 years) Arthur Lucksinger and her sisters Beatrice, Lillian, Catherine, Elaine, and Alice.
A memorial service will be held Sunday August 13th at 11:30 a.m. at Weed Corley Fish, 5416 Parkcrest Drive, Austin, TX.
