Rose, aka Nana, is survived by her daughter, Stacy Janecka, and son, Christopher Tiemann, both of Austin; her four grandchildren whom she adored: Alexandra Janecka, Taylor Janecka, Aidan Tiemann, and Alyssa Tiemann; her sister, Vada Jones, of Waxahachie, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends.
When you asked Rose to describe her life, she would humbly say that it was ordinary from beginning to end. She grew up in a poor family that was rich with love. She excelled in school graduating as valedictorian of her senior class. She had a photographic memory and planned to attend college but chose to stay at home and care for her mother when she became ill.
Her professional career began with Mobil Oil in downtown Dallas in the building with the famous red Pegasus on top. Every time she was promoted, two women were hired to fill her place. Despite a lack of formal education, she was an expert in accounting, banking, and payroll, eventually retiring as a manager at Southern Union Gas.
Rose’s list of favorite things included spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
She loved to stay up for hours talking and watching old movies with her sister, Vada, but they NEVER discussed politics!
Her love for reading began as a young girl and she used it as a way to educate herself, to learn about life, the world, other cultures and other people, whether it was fact or fiction. She also read the Bible to learn more of Christ’s message for us all. Her favorite poet was Emily Dickinson and her favorite author was Jane Austen.
She liked to spend time traveling, viewing beautiful works of art, decorating her home, attending Bible Study, and working. Rose loved to shop and has a closet full of shoes and beautiful clothes to prove it. She believed in doing a good job no matter what it was. . . . she was definitely a perfectionist!
After she retired, she enjoyed traveling to Chicago, cruising the Caribbean- where she kissed a stingray for good luck- and to New Orleans where she was serenaded by a musician who thought she was beautiful. She also went on trips to San Diego, New York, San Francisco, Mexico and even Fredericksburg. Rose also loved going to nice restaurants and trying new foods as long as the place wasn’t too noisy and the food wasn’t Chinese!
For most of Rose’s life she suffered from “AS” (Ankylosing Spondylitis), a chronic inflammatory arthritis which occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks healthy joints, primarily the spine. Despite continual pain, Rose handled it with grace and dignity, never complaining and always caring for others more than for herself. Anyone who met her commented on her sweet sincerity, her caring nature, and her intelligence.
Rose loved to be surrounded by beautiful things and yet her family and friends were the most beautiful to her. She never realized how much her beautiful love surrounded us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation in Rose’s name to the Spondylitis Association of America, 16360 Roscoe Blvd., Ste 100, Van Neus, CA, 91406. 800-777-8189.
