Rose Margaret Vaz

Rose Margaret Vaz went to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of October 17, 2021 in Austin, TX at the age of 74. Rose was born in Mangalore, India to Martha and Matthew Pinto on January 29, 1947. She was the youngest of seven children. Rose was a licensed registered nurse who graduated from Father Muller’s Hospital in Mangalore, India. She went on to Saint Mary’s Hospital of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and served others in this vocation for over 30 years.

Rose was an intelligent, strong, graceful women of faith. She was a dedicated wife and mother first and foremost who cared deeply for her family and friends. Rose especially loved her role as Grandma/Nana. Her innate qualities of patience and listening made her a trusted confidante to all.

Rose is survived by her devoted and loving husband Joseph Vaz; her son and daughter-in-law, Andrew & Heather Vaz; her daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Steven Kapinos; six grandchildren, Logan, Kendra, Brandon, Griffin, Reagan, Sloan; her two sisters, Lettie and Winnie and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Rose’s life will be held at the Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749 on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 5-8pm CDT.

Mass will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Rd, Austin, Texas 78749 on October 29, 2021 at 10am CDT and will be live streamed; see link below.
