Today we bid farewell and celebrate the life of the matriarch of the Alston family, Rosemary Wade- Alston. Rosemary was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to all she knew. Rosemary departed this life on Wednesday May 11th, 2022.
Rosemary was born April 12th, 1946, in Austin, Texas to the late Oscar Wade and Laura Bell Wade. She was raised in Austin, TX and attended Austin Independent School District. She was a proud graduate of the Old L.C Anderson High School, Class of 1964, where she was a yellow jacket jackette. She received her certification in X-Ray Technician from Concordia College and was a graduate of Austin Community College.
Rosemary accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Simpson United Methodist. Rosemary also fellowshipped at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Joe Dixon and Rev. Alvin Quinton.
Rosemary, loved to serve her community and had a passion for helping children and young adults. Because of her passion she begin teaching at Oak Springs Elementary and later opened Care Bear Learning center where all the neighborhood kids attended. She also worked for the City of Austin Health Department; she then begins her career with Travis County Healthy families where she helped with infant care. In her free time, she enjoyed arts and crafts along with family gatherings.
Rosemary's love for family was an inspiration to all. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost, who treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as grandma and went above and beyond for her grandchildren. Rosemary had a vivacious personality and made everyone around her smile, she never met a stranger.
Rosemary met the love of her life in 1970, Sargent Irvine Alston a native of South Carolina. They begin their marriage in 1974, this year they shared 48 years of marriage. Together they raised two sons:
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Oscar Deleon, Joe, and Fred Wade.
Rosemary leaves to cherish her precious memories, her loving and devoted husband, Irvine Alston, Sons Tres Dale (Cara) and Lamont (Michelle), Loving sisters Claudine Barlow (Leslie) and Laura Wade-Alexander. 11 grandkids, Jasmine (Chris), Dejon, Brittney (John), Darius, Jerron, Amerasia, Infiniti, DeAnja, Calliegh, Christa, and Cai, 8 great grandkids, Sister in law’s Rosa Shaw, Dale Alston, of Mt Pleasant, SC; Betty and Francis Wade. Brother-in-Law Marion Alston (Helen) of Mt. Pleasant, SC and a host of nieces and nephews, and family members who all adored her.
