
R. Raye Williams R. Raye Williams, born February 16, 1917, to Bertha F. Siegmund and Horace G. Linscomb, Sr. She was a 4th generation Austinite, 6th generation Texan. She was a member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Stephen F. Austin Chapter, Linscomb, Pevito, Bland, Leyendecker, Klien, Harmon; Daughters of the American Revolution Clearfork Chapter. Among the first member of St. Ignatius and St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Churches. She held multiple offices and memberships in many of each churchs organizations. She married Vance A. Williams on July 25, 1936. He announced his intention to marry her before they even started dating at age sixteen. They enjoyed life together until his death in 1994. Always the care taker and nurturer of the family. Her quick wit furnished us with many smiles. She told us wonderful stories of the Austin of her youth, the trolley cars, moonlight towers, Model Ts, and swimming at Deep Eddy. And encouraged us with Cant never did anything. Avid deer hunter and bowler. Bowled with The Southern Bells for over 30 years. Nearly all those years she bowled with her sister, Jane S. Pratt, deceased. A few of those years with her surviving daughter, Gayle Jones. She especially enjoyed deer hunting with husband, Vance Williams deceased and son, Russell V. Williams, survivor. Many times she smiled when she recalled her grandsons Mike and Marks first hunting trips. Sitting in her deer stand with their coloring books. For Ethan and Matthew she was the very best babysitting grandmother. Also survived by daughter-in-law, Linda G. Williams; grandson, Ethan R. Williams, Matthew T. Williams; son-in-law Edward Jones; grandson and family Michael and Diane Jones and great granddaughters, Melissa and Jordan Jones; grandson and family, Mark and Alexis Jones and great grandchildren, Alexa, Vance and soon Maya Rose Jones; brother and sister-in-law Horace G. and Alice Linscomb; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Janice and Lamar Hokanson; brother-in-law Wallace Pratt; numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Pellegrini, the Staff of Buckner Villas, as well as Debbie Pearson for their care and attention to Rayes needs these last years. Her legacy: Mom always was the person you called upon when in need. She was always there to help and could always be counted upon to keep her word and expected everyone else to do the same. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, January 27, 2006 at Wilke-Clay-Fish Chapel. Interment will follow at Clearfork Cemetery in Lockhart, Texas.
