Ruben graduated from Austin High School and the University of Texas at El Paso with a master’s degree in civil engineering. He was a Tau Beta Pi member. Ruben held positions with the Texas Health Department water hygiene division and chief engineer with the TXLLRWDA.
Ruben was a gentle, kind soul and humble in sharing his knowledge, a true intellect.
Preceded in death by parents, Jesus and Josefa Alvarado.
Survived by his loving wife, Josie Franco-Alvarado; brothers, Robert (Carol) Alvarado and Richard (Susan) Alvarado; nieces Catherine and Julia Alvarado, Imelda (Mike) Thompson and Terry Castro; as well as many cousins.
