Ruby Louise Horton Rainer

Ruby Louise Horton Rainer (Louise), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, of Austin, died at home after a long illness on Saturday, October 31, 2009. She was born to Benjamin Prentice Horton (Bob) and Ruby Thelma Horton in the Austin area, on September 25, 1928. Louise is survived by her husband Ralph Edward Wassinger, and three sons Leslie Truett Rainer, Jr., Bill Alan Rainer, and Robin David Rainer and wife, Monie, and grandsons Adam, William, Aaron, and Alex Rainer, all of the Austin area. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Rosalind Ferrell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was pre-deceased by her husband of over 50 years, Leslie Truett Rainer, her parents, and two brothers Benjamin Prentice Horton, Jr. and Joe Frank Horton. Louise lived a long life, surviving three bouts of breast cancer. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a library science degree, and was a long time librarian for the State of Texas, retiring from the Water Development Board. Louise enjoyed traveling, cooking, and gardening. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at Austin Memorial Park, 2800 Hancock Dr.
