Russell "Rusty" Connally Roberson, 21, died tragically on September 6, 2011. Rusty never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew him. Rusty had a big heart, a generous spirit and loved life. He was deeply loved by his family and friends. His sweet smile will be forever missed.
Although born in Galveston, Texas, Rusty grew up in Austin attending Hyde Park Baptist Elementary, O'Henry Middle School, Austin High School and McCallum High School. He was an avid junior tennis player from age 6 and was a varsity player at both Austin High and McCallum. He loved all sports, especially lacrosse and weight training and was a gifted athlete.
Rusty is survived by his parents, Richard and Teresa Roberson; twin brother, Brian; brothers, Rick and wife Carol, Randy and wife Debbie; and sister, Dee Bow and husband Bob. Also surviving him are his loving grandmother, Martine Connally; aunts, Dianne Betts and Joanne Jaffe and husband Jim Lawrence; uncles, Tom Connally and wife Suzy and Dennis Connally and wife Anne; nieces, Stephanie Smith and husband Brian and Melissa Roberson; and nephew, Clayton King. Rusty also leaves behind wonderful friends, too many to count.
Services to celebrate Rusty's life will be held Saturday, September 10, 1pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church (2222/MoPac). Reception immediately to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Austin Recovery or to the charity of your choice.
John 16:22 So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.
