Sammy Gene Bauer

Sammy was born on June 22, 1949, to Amil and Emma Bauer of Darrouzett, Texas. After graduating from Darrouzett High School in 1967, he went on to study education at the University of Texas in Austin. After graduation, he taught math at Reagan High School for his first two years of teaching. Then he moved to Lanier High School and retired after 30+ years of teaching Math and History.

Sammy was passionate about music from a very young age and fell in love with piano and organ music. This passion lead him to find a home in the Faith Lutheran Church where he became the organist and part of the choir. He was a member of the congregation for over 50 years and was still active in the church until his hospitalization.

Sammy was predeceased by his parents, Amil and Emma Bauer. He is survived by his sister Ramona Treadway of Dalhart, Texas, and his niece Tiffany Treadway-Currey of Grand Prairie, Texas.

Memorial Services will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, February 20th at Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow Ave, Austin Texas 78757.

Sammy Gene Bauer will be laid to rest with a scattering of his ashes at Fath Lutheran Church and The University of Texas on a future date.
