Born on February 23, 1950, in Austin, Texas, to George and Birdie Shirley, Sandra grew up on the shores of Lake Travis, where she spent her youth fishing, skiing, and boating. A bright and determined student, her intelligence and grit shaped the way she approached every chapter of her life.
On December 26, 1970, Sandra married the love of her life, Geoffrey Warren Kreiger. To Geoff, she was not only his partner in every sense but also a true beauty—inside and out. Together they built a marriage of 54 years, marked by devotion, laughter, and shared adventures. They raised two daughters, Shannon and Erin, and created a home filled with warmth, order, and joy. Later, Sandra delighted in being “Mimi,” doting on her granddaughters Zoe, Clair, and Nora, who brought her endless pride and happiness.
After earning her CPA from the University of Texas at Austin, Sandra built a career in public accountancy and office management. Her precision, integrity, and tireless work ethic earned her the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
Sandra’s vibrant spirit shone through in countless ways. She loved soulful music, had a sharp wit that could fill any room with laughter, and was fearless enough to once briefly keep a lion as a pet during her teenage years—a testament to her lifelong love of animals. She took joy in her garden, in keeping an impeccable home, and in traveling with her family. She balanced strength with kindness, proficiency with playfulness, and responsibility with a quick smile and a well-timed joke.
Above all, Sandra embodied devotion—to her husband, children, grandchildren, parents, and friends. She cared for her loved ones with compassion, upheld traditions with pride, and made everyday life brighter through her love and presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Birdie Shirley. She is survived by her husband, Geoffrey Kreiger; her daughters, Shannon Jones and Erin Broome; her granddaughters, Zoe, Clair, and Nora; her brother, Larry Shirley; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A private remembrance service to celebrate Sandra’s life will be held at a later date. Though deeply missed, her laughter, love, and legacy will live on in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
