It was so beautiful that Scot and I could reconnect after 40 years.  Wonderful that my wife, Sallie and Scot could make such a connection. Summer of 1966 to the summer of 2006..it boggles the mind. Thank you, Nancy, for taking Scoty on his farewell tour-it was so magical.  For our friend, Scoty, I feel such peace.  Finally, Scoty, you are free like the wind you tried to capture in your sails.  God speed!



Scott will always be remembered in my thoughts for his love of life and his struggle to maintain his smile and pass on that smile to his close friends and those who cared for him. Scott was a remarkable person to all who knew him he will be greatly missed. I will always remember his patience and love of life not only as one of his care givers but also Scott for his stuggle to never give up the battle.



I will always remember that wonderful smile!

Spaced Cadet to Time Lard:     I already miss you.  Catch you the next time the wheel spins us to the same STC (space time continuum) ... you crazy son of a bitch.  You're not getting away this easy. I still have an assignment or two here.  Until then, you're one of the few that's made it worth landing in this podunk little outpost.      Looks like you made the best of it.  Texas suited you well.  Great job gathering your tribe.   Do you think they knew?  I think they loved you again.  Too bad we didn't make it to Stonehenge for the millenium alignment with the others.  I'll let you know when I'm done so you can "Beam me up again...Scot'y'".  You've got to stop picking that name.  It's getting a little cliche.    Before you go, do you remember that time on Rangelium when those two naked snarquanks got in your cruiser ?  I'll never forget that night.  What a blast!  I guess we'll have to put that one aside until later... How about on Glaxon Five during the Nebula Transition?  I just heard they entered the industrial age about a jinkon ago.  You bring your tools and I'll bring the sounds.  You can invent the slide rule and I'll do rock and roll.  They'll never know what hit 'em.      How 'bout it?  Let me know when you're ready. I, too, met Scot (a.k.a. Scott Tissue) at Espey-Huston in the early '80's.  He was mischievous and fun loving.      One day he and his partner in crime and mischief, Larry Hanrahan (a.k.a. Larry Hammerhead) popped into my doorway, armed with big grins and water pistols, and proceeded to dampen me and everything on the desk as I talked to a client on the phone.  They ran off laughing to Scot's office in the adjacent building.      A quick trip to Toy-R-Us for backpack soaker guns, some plastic bags from the Copy Center for protection, and later that day two friends and I snuck up on the pranksters in Scot's office and repaid the favor!  At one point, either Scot or Larry reached for and opened an umbrella in a futile attempt to avoid the downpour.    I haven't seen Scot in almost 20 years, but the memory of him and that day still makes me smile every time. Godspeed.



Nancy~  I can't thank you enough for the time you allowed me to spend with you and Scot.  He was so special to me (he WAS my brother) and I love him very much.  I will always cherish how he laughed when I gave him our special "hugs & kisses".  He will be greatly missed.  I admire you for all that you did for him~the love and care you gave so unselfishly.  You are and always will be rewarded for this.  I love you and I will always be there for you.



I remember so many special, fun times with Scot. Most memorable was the BVI trip with Nancy and sailing on Lake Travis. I'll never forget the bimini surprise for Scot and Ron's 50th birthday. Scot was such a devoted, true friend to Ron. Scot was blessed to have had Nancy as his caregiver during this trying time.



I met Scott at Espey Huston.  The thing that struck me about Scott was his zest for life.  He had a very playful nature and was always kind to others.  I am saddened by his demise.    May he RIP



I will always remember Scot doing his happy dance!  Nancy, you are a wonderful care giver!  I am greatly envious of your hard work and devoted dedication to Scot.  You are a very patient and kind soul.  I hope you have lots of support to help you in this hard time!      Laura

I remember Scot as friendly, handsome, interesting and full of life.  I am sorry that he died at an early age because of a terrible disease but grateful that he had a friend and caretaker like Nancy.

Alexander, your laugh was loud and contagious....every time we met, you had a smile and a ready conversation, I will miss you.



Scot was one of the first people I met when I moved to Austin to work at Espey-Huston after graduating from college in 1984.  We worked with a great bunch of people, most of whom are still good friends today.  Scot showed me so much about what is wonderful about living in Austin, including his passion for sailing.  We had some FUN sailboat happy hours with lots of friends out on Lake Travis that I know we will always remember.  I was hearbroken that he had to endure this disease, but so thankful that he had his angel named Nancy to care for and support him through all of it.  She truly extended his quality of life and for that I know we are all grateful.  We will miss you, Scotty, but we will never forget your endearing smile, your twinkling eyes and your mischevious laughter!!



I will always remember Scottie fondly.  Condolences.

I will always remember the stories Scot and Ron told every Wednesday night after softball with Bob!  I will never know how much was truth and how much tale, but they were always great stories which got better after many beers.  The picture of Scot on front page tells the whole story, I never saw him not smiling or laughing.  He was always a joy to be around!  I was lucky to have know him and he was lucky to have friends like Nancy and Ron.  Scot your physical presences will be missed, but we still have plenty of stories to tell.



Nancy,    I am thinking and praying that you have peace and comfort knowing Scot is now with others that love him and as you respectively reflect on the memories of who he was and what you two experienced together - I am sure you are thinking about a treasure box full of blessings and remember those special experiences that are timeless gifts for you.    blessings and love,  deb



What an inspiration Scot and Nancy have been to me. To see such devotion to one another is unsurpassed.  I remember the way Scot would look to Nancy for guidance and assurance and it was always delivered with care.  What you both gave and received from one another is truly what life is about.  My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.



We're very sad to lose Scot. I lost my father to this same tragic disease.   Lets prefer to think that Scot is now sailing to fair winds.



We had sailing in common and talked about trips to the BVI's.We would also always see each other at Chuys on Jan 8th for Elvis's birthday anniversary. I will miss his craziness and smile.

To my cousin. Scot, I am so glad that I contacted you over 10 years ago. We didn't see each other that much as we were growing up, but I am happy that we got to get to know each other since. Seeing you in 2003 and 2007, was the highlight of our lives. When you first looked at my brother, Stu, the last time I saw you, we were together for the first time in 45 years. For the last 49 years I have called Scot "friend" and always will. As boys we grew into men and never looked back. Should anybody every want a life long friend I would hope he/she is as good a frend as Scott has been. I will miss you my friend.



Nancy, my heart goes out to you.  I have never known anyone as selfless as you've been in your loving care of Scot.  We know he is in a much better place now and is at peace.
