Scottie was born in El Paso, Texas on May 20th, 1934. From that time on, her spirit and zest for life never slowed. From her early days in a girl's school where she'd climb the bookshelves to tease the librarian... to her last days in a hospital, where she gave laughter to those who often see death...she never left a path without a new friend. She is one of those once in a lifetime souls whose time on this earth will leave a mark in the hearts of many.
Scottie loved the stage, she was well known in the Austin theater community, and earned credentials as a professional actress. She graduated from the University of Texas in 1957 and her ardent cheers for her Longhorns would make any coach proud.
She was a life-long Episcopalian and because of her, many others are now members of the church. Her thoughtfulness was often unmatched. Her love for her husband, family, and friends endures in memories we will treasure.
We take comfort now in knowing she is reunited in heaven with her daughter, Janis Lynn; her father, Frank Dean; her mother, Minnie Frances; and her favorite Aunt "Sis". Scottie's survivors include her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Gordon Wilkison; son, Garry Wilkison and wife Angie; daughter, Karen Batson and husband Mark; the grandchildren she adored, Graham and Ciara Wilkison; and a sister, Shirley Kendall, and husband Jack.
Visitation is Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, November 11th at All Saints Episcopal Church, 209 West 27th Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to The University of Texas Department of Theater and Dance Undergraduate Scholarship Fund or All Saints Episcopal Church-Austin, Rector's Discretionary Fund.
