Shannon was born in Hayward, California on March 18, 1982. She moved to Austin, Texas when she was seven years old. She graduated from McNeil High School in 2000, and went on to attend and graduate from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 with a degree in Social Work.
Shannon had a heart to care for others and dedicated her career to enhancing the lives of children, working at several Austin-area schools in administration and admissions.
The most important thing in Shannon’s life were her two boys, Carter and Ellis. The moments she got with them brought her joy. Together they would do arts and crafts projects, play at the park near their house, and go out to play arcade games.
Shannon’s family and friends remember her for her great sense of humor. She loved Texas Longhorn football, spending holidays and family celebrations playing with her children and nieces and nephew; and listening to music, especially Bob Marley. She was an animal lover, and had several beloved cats.
She is preceded in death by her father Chesley Stephens, her paternal grandparents Gene Stephens and Mary Demichillie, and her maternal grandparents Eugene and Elisabeth Von Ach.
Shannon is survived by her sons Carter and Ellis Thompson, her mother Margaret Kilpatrick, her step-father Bruce Kilpatrick; her brothers Chesley Stephens II (Keely) and David Kilpatrick (Carrie), along with her cherished nieces Adeline Stephens and Margot and Mae Kilpatrick, and nephew Clark Kilpatrick, all of Austin, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Austin Pets Alive!.
