Sharon Patricia Balcezak

Sharon Patricia (Lewis) Balcezak passed on September 26, 2021. Sharon grew up in the Lordship neighborhood of Stratford, Connecticut. Following her graduation from Notre Dame High School she attended St. Francis School of Nursing, and then began her career as a Registered Nurse in pediatrics. In 1967 Sharon married William (Bill) Balcezak and they embarked on a relationship that took them from Connecticut to Delaware to Vermont and finally to what became their longtime home, Austin, Texas. By 1974 Sharon and Bill had their three children, Chris, Heather and Michael. With three children at home Sharon paused her nursing career and spent ten years raising her and Bill’s children. As her children grew Sharon returned to the workforce as an aide at her neighborhood elementary school, Forest Trail, and then put her nursing skills back to work at the Texas Department of Health and Human Services where she worked in the regulation of senior living facilities until her retirement. Following her retirement Sharon spent her time enjoying vacations with Bill, sewing and scrapbooking, spending time with friends and family, continuing her lifelong love of Jeopardy! And doting on the nine grandchildren that eventually arrived. Sharon will be remembered as bright, quick-witted, outgoing, supportive and truly loving person who had and impact on all who met her. Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Bill Balcezak, her son, Christopher Balcezak, her father, Stephen Lewis, her mother, Patricia Lewis and her sister Doreen Lewis. She is survived by her brother, Robert Lewis, her daughter, heather (Balcezak) Hodes, Heather’s husband Ted Hodes, her son Michael and nine grandchildren, Will Hodes, Noah Hodes, Luke Hodes, Annabelle Hodes, Romey Hodes, Hannah Balcezak, Ben Balcezak, Grace Balcezak and Susannah Balcezak. Visitation 5-8pm, Monday, October 4th (Rosary at 6:00pm) at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78749. Mass of Christian Burial 2:00pm, Tuesday, October 5th at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church, 5455 Bee Cave Road, Westlake Hills, Texas. Interment at Assumption Cemetery.
